Pacaya Day Tour

The Pacaya Volcano Hike is a top adventure in Guatemala: engaging, easy, and perfectly suitable for kids. Standing at 2,552 meters, Volcán Pacaya is more manageable than some of our other treks, but its stunning vistas and unique volcanic terrain ensure it's a memorable and exciting experience for all!

Departure

We offer two different schedules and we pick you up at your hotel or designated spot in Antigua

(7 am or 2 pm)

Arrival at Pacaya national park

Depending on traffic it should take 1 - 1.5 hours

(8:30 am or 3:30 pm)

Start Hike

Our itinerary is designed with average hiking times in mind, but the actual schedule may vary depending on the group size, weather conditions, and fitness level (9 am or 4 pm)

Arrival at Lava Fields

Explore and take pictures

(10:30 am or 5:30 pm)

Prepare your pizza

Optional: You will be provided with an apron, a hat, and various ingredients so you can make your own pizza

(11 am or 6 pm)

Brunch

Enjoy your pizza with hibiscus tea or horchata as beverages, and roast some marshmallows

(11:30 am or 6:30 pm)

Descent

Time to hike back down

(11:45 am - 6:45 pm)

Arrival at park entrance

Time to get back to Antigua (12:45 pm o 7:45 pm)

Shuttle back to Antigua

Ride back to your hotel or designated spot in Antigua

(1 pm - 9 pm)

The Pacaya Volcano hike was a fantastic family experience! The guides were wonderful, keeping the hike fun and engaging for everyone, including the kids. Making pizza at the lava fields was a unique highlight that the whole family loved. I never thought I would be baking my pizza using the heat from an active volcano, but that’s exactly what we did! • If you cancel between 72 and 24 hours before the tour, you will receive a 50% refund.

• We operate on a schedule and need to know exactly how many participants we will have to ensure we have the appropriate number of guides each day.

• We prepare the food (your lunch) and purchase the rest (dinner and breakfast) the evening before the tour.

• We prepay for the spots on the buses that take you to the volcano.
